County Funding:
Both the creation of the Metro East Park and Recreation District (MEPRD) and a
one-tenth of one percent Sales Tax
were approved by Madison and St. Clair County, Illinois voters in November 2000.
Of these said funds, fifty percent is retained by the MEPRD
organizational body and the other half is distributed back to the
respective Counties. In Madison County the funds are received by the Madison County Park and Recreation Grant Commission, whereas in St.
Clair County the funds are distributed equally between the St. Clair
County Park and Recreation Grant Commission and the St. Clair County
Property and Recreation Committee.
Information pertaining to the availability and distribution of grant
funds by these entities can only be obtained by contacting each individual
County agency.

IDNR Bike Path Grant Matching Funds Program
The
Metro East Park and Recreation District has committed funds, not to
exceed a total program distribution of five hundred thousand dollars
($500,000),
to be awarded to successful applicants of the 2009 Illinois Department of
Natural Resources Bike Path Grant Program (March 1, 2009 cycle). The program's matching
funds are not to exceed 50% (fifty percent) of the required local match or
one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), which ever is less, per
successful application.
Notes: MEPRD matching funds are only available for projects located
within Madison County and/or St. Clair County, Illinois. MEPRD
matching funds are not available for project segments that have previously
been awarded MEPRD funds (this does not include funds received by the
aforementioned County agencies). In addition, if in total the
requested MEPRD matching
funds by the successful IDNR Bike Path Grant applicants is greater than
$500,000, the Metro East Park and Recreation District will determine
awardees based on how best the individual projects compliment the efforts
and long range plans of MEPRD.
