MEPRD Funded Projects - FY 2007

Special thanks to the dedicated and hard working project sponsors who successfully completed the following projects.

 

MCT Nickel Plate East Connector, Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, IL

MEPRD helped fund the development of the Nickel Plate East Connector.  The connector is 4 miles in length and 10' wide.  The asphalt bicycle path extends from the northeastern terminus of the MCT Nature Trail/Schoolhouse Trail to the western terminus of the Glen Carbon and Nickel Plate west connector. 

 

Park Lighting Improvements, Cahokia, IL

 Funding provided by MEPRD allowed for the addition of lighting around the asphalt walking path and installation of park benches within Cahokia Community Park

Lake and Park Project, Marine, IL

 MEPRD funding assisted with the development of a park and lake in Marine, IL.  These developments include the construction of an overflow/spillway, a parking area, a multipurpose trail around the lake, restrooms, pavilions, a nature trail, and landscaping.

 

MCT Nickel Plate West Connector, Glen Carbon/ Pontoon Beach, IL

MEPRD provided funding assistance in the construction of a 3.9 mile asphalt bicycle path connenction MCT Nature Trail to Glen Carbon Trail and Nickel Plate Trail.  This connection begins near I-255 in Pontoon Beach and ends in downtown Glen Carbon.

 

MCT Nature Trail Connection, Glen Carbon/Pontoon, IL

Funding was provided for the construction of a 3.9 mile asphalt bicycle path connection MCT Nature Trail to Glen Carbon Trail and Nickel Plate Trail.

 

Easterly Trail Extension of Heritage Bike Trail, Glen Carbon, IL

MEPRD helped fund a joint project between the Villages of Glen Carbon and Marine, IL.  The Ronald J. Foster Heritage Trail was extended eastward roughly 4 miles from its eastern terminus in Glen Carbon to the Village of Marine.

 

Heritage Trail, Marine, IL

MEPRD funded the construction of an asphalt bicycle trail extending the Glen Carbon Heritage Trail 4 miles east and connection into the Village of Marine.

 

Richland Creek Trail Bikeway, Swansea, IL

Richland Creek Trail Bikeway is .8 of a mile in length, 8' wide adn runs parallel to Richland Creek in Swansea.  This trail runs from Centennial Park to Old Collinsville Road.  A future phase will connect to the Metro Bike Link Trail.

 

Hellrung Park, Alton, IL

The revitalization of Hellrung Park included the development of the skateboard park, pavilion, basketball court, picnic area, seating, walkways, playground, fountain and urban plaza.
